Project Description
The PBSA development at Brabazon, Filton, Bristol, comprises four eight-storey residential blocks (Blocks A–D), delivering 1,514 student accommodation units in a mix of studio apartments and cluster flats.
At the centre of the scheme is a communal hub designed to support student wellbeing and social interaction, incorporating a gymnasium, café, and dedicated learning and collaboration spaces.
The development has been designed with a strong focus on sustainability and is targeting a minimum 10% reduction in residual carbon emissions through the integration of on-site renewable energy technologies. Heating is provided via air source heat pumps, with the infrastructure designed to facilitate future connection to the wider Brabazon District Heating Network.
Roof-mounted photovoltaic arrays are incorporated across all blocks to maximise on-site energy generation and contribute towards reducing the operational carbon footprint of the development.
CBS Role
Development of the MEP design from RIBA Stage 3 through to Stage 5, including detailed design coordination, technical delivery, and construction support.
