Project Description
The Carriageworks development involved the refurbishment and redevelopment of the Grade II* listed Carriageworks building in Bristol, delivering 143 residential apartments comprising a mix of studio, one, two, and three-bedroom units.
The scheme also incorporated 14 commercial units ranging from approximately 564 sq ft to 2,560 sq ft, creating a mixed-use development that combined heritage restoration with modern residential and commercial accommodation.
Given the listed status of the building, the project required careful coordination of building services installations within the existing historic structure, ensuring modern MEP systems were integrated sensitively whilst maintaining the architectural character of the development.
CBS Role
CBS Engineering were appointed by Orb Mechanical & Electrical, the MEP subcontractor engaged by Bray & Slaughter, to undertake the full MEP design from RIBA Stage 3 through to Stage 5.
The scope included the detailed design and coordination of all residential apartments, landlord systems, and communal areas, together with ongoing technical support throughout the construction phase.
