Building Information Modelling
We deliver coordinated, buildable BIM that supports real-world construction — not 3D models for the sake of it. Our BIM process focuses on managing and communicating information clearly, supporting better decision-making during design, construction, and handover.
Fully integrated with our mechanical and electrical design delivery, BIM allows risks to be identified early, coordination issues resolved, and information shared clearly across the project team.
What We Do
Revit & 3D Modelling
All BIM work is undertaken in-house by our engineering team using Revit. This allows us to develop accurate, discipline-specific models that reflect design intent, spatial constraints, and installation requirements — ensuring models are practical, coordinated, and ready for construction.
Coordination & Clash Resolution
We work closely with architects, structural engineers, and specialist contractors to coordinate building services within the wider design. BIM enables early identification and resolution of clashes, reducing site queries, avoiding rework, and supporting smoother installation on site.
Information Management & Standards
Our BIM processes align with recognised UK BIM standards, including PAS 1192 and ISO 19650, ensuring information is structured, controlled, and traceable throughout the project lifecycle.
We regularly work to defined Employer’s Information Requirements (EIRs) and produce compliant BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) to clearly set out responsibilities, information exchanges, and delivery expectations.
COBie & Asset Information
Where required, we support structured asset data and COBie outputs in line with ISO 19650 information management principles, ensuring a smooth transition from design and construction into operation and facilities management.
Our focus is on delivering clear, usable information that supports long-term building operation rather than unnecessary data complexity.
What BIM Delivers
Used properly, BIM helps project teams and clients to:
Identify and resolve spatial conflicts early
Improve coordination between disciplines
Reduce site queries and rework
Improve certainty around installation and sequencing
Receive clearer, more usable information at handover
Why Choose CBS Engineering
Engineering-led BIM
Our BIM capability is delivered by building services engineers who understand how buildings are designed, built, and operated.
Fully in-house delivery
All BIM and coordination work is undertaken in-house by our engineering team, ensuring accountability, consistency, and direct ownership of the design.
Practical, buildable outputs
We focus on producing models that contractors can work with — avoiding unnecessary complexity or theoretical modelling.
Collaborative approach
We work closely with design teams and contractors to ensure BIM supports project delivery rather than becoming a constraint.
Aligned with real project delivery
Our BIM process is shaped by live projects, programmes, and site requirements — ensuring it adds value at every stage.
Why Choose CBS?
Engineering-led, not software-led
Our BIM capability is driven by engineers who understand how buildings are actually constructed. Models are developed alongside design — not as a separate exercise.
Fully in-house delivery
All BIM and coordination work is undertaken by our own team, ensuring consistency, accountability, and quality control throughout the project.
Practical and buildable outputs
We focus on producing coordinated, realistic models that contractors can work with — not overly complex or theoretical representations.
Collaborative approach
We work closely with design teams, contractors, and clients to ensure BIM supports the wider project objectives rather than becoming a constraint.
Aligned with real project delivery
Our BIM process is shaped around live projects, programmes, and site requirements — ensuring it adds value at every stage.
